Nominee #1: The SEC Staffer
Did SEC Staffer Surf Porn While Investors Got Burned?
A former regional supervisor at the Securities and Exchange Commission missed an alleged $550 million Ponzi scheme that was unfolding at the same time he was caught accessing pornography on his office computer, according to a report obtained by CNBC.
While the report does not suggest the supervisor missed the scam as a result of his pornography use, the report again spotlights embarrassing revelations of conduct by some staffers at the SEC, which is still trying to recover from its missteps in the Bernard Madoff scandal.
The supervisor, whose name is not being released by the SEC, has since resigned the agency.
SEC Inspector General H. David Kotz found in a report issued in 2009 that during one week alone in 2008, the supervisor tried 196 times to access internet porn sites on his SEC computer, and that the computer's hard drive contained numerous pornographic images.
Nice to know our tax paying dollars are "hard" at work!
Nominee #2: Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan charged with stealing necklace from Venice jeweler
Actress Lindsay Lohan pleaded not guilty to felony grand theft charges. She is accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace Jan. 22. She was released on $40,000 bail.
The courtroom was different, the charge was more serious, but there was definitely a feeling of deja vu Wednesday as Lindsay Lohan again appeared before a judge and in front of scores of cameras.
Lohan sat in her familiar spot in the defendant's chair next to her longtime attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley. She looked up silently as the judge lectured her about not being above the law and that this time, there would be consequences.
Lindsay is a repeating candidate for Donkey of the Month. I still think the smartest thing she can do is marry Charlie Sheen and create a reality TV show around their blessed first year. I want to see the two trains on the same track!
Nominee #3: Clark County (Nevada) Firefighters
Firefighters Hose Tax Payers: County finds more widespread abuse of firefighter sick leave
Another firefighter took four and half months worth of sick leave last year but never four shifts in a row, so officials could not investigate it. The same employee worked more than 2,200 hours of overtime and made more than $200,000 last year.
It's amazing to learn how common waste is in the Clark County fire department at a time when budget deficits are so large. And at the same time, the union is indifferent to the wasting of tax payers money as if they were entitled to do so!
Nominee #4: Wisconsin State Democrats
UPDATE: Democrats Flee Wisconsin To Avoid Vote On Union Bill
Wisconsin Democrats have "gone into hiding" to avoid a Senate vote on an emergency budget bill that would sharply curtail collective bargaining rights for public employees.
Like pouting little children who did not get their way, Wisconsin State Democrats fled the state to hide in Illinois to block a quorum from being reached so a vote could not take place on eliminating certain collective bargaining rights for teachers. While a very crafty move it's shameful to say the least. Politicians are elected to debate, off ideas and bills, counter bills, debate and then vote. Not quit and hide because they did not get their way!!
Without a doubt, the Donkey of the Month are Wisconsin State Democrats!
Hope all is well
